Lord Adelheid was sold as a colt to Jan van Zeeland who had him trained by Bert-Jan van de Pol. As a 6-and 7-yr-old Lord Adelheid was very successful in the national sport. In 2001 he won, for example, the Eric Wauters Prize at the CSI in Monaco. Later that year Lord Adelheid was ridden by Peter Geerink for several months. At Jumping Indoor Maastricht they finished second in a 1.40m class both on the Friday- and Saturday-night. After Indoor Brabant, in the beginning of 2002, Lord Adelheid continued his career under Bart-Jan van de Pol. Until 2005 he jumped a series of Grand Prix at national level, the Dutch Championship in Mierlo in 2003 and was three times placed in the Derby of Eindhoven.
